Why do you need a FAQs page?
I receive dozens of e-mails each week. I love hearing from so many of you that have been tremendously supportive of my efforts to maintain this web site, but I am unable to respond to each e-mail in a timely fashion. My hope is that this page will be able to answer some of the most common questions I receive. If your question is not listed here, please write and I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. Additional questions and answers will be added as necessary.

Why do you need to post lesson outlines when the Church's web site posts the Gospel Doctrine Teacher's Manual and a study guide?
One of the great frustrations of Gospel Doctrine teachers is attempting to squeeze the lesson material into 35-40 minutes instruction time. Members of our class would often tell me that they wished we had more time. For about two years we had a informal monthly fireside where we discussed and expanded on some of the things that we did not have time to discuss during the class period.
As a replacement for the fireside I began posting the lesson outlines on the Internet so that class members could prepare and study on their own. The web site started with the intent to simply provide gospel students with additional study material. I never imagined at that time that these lesson outlines would be read by thousands of Church members around the world (see Class Visitors). My outlines are not meant to replace the Gospel Doctrine materials provided by the Church. The Church's instruction materials have been the basis for my study and I have expanded on them as I have prepared for class.
Who are you?
My name is Bill Beardall. I recently moved to Centennial, Colorado. For many years I lived in King County, Washington, between the cities of Auburn and Federal Way, about 20 miles south of Seattle. My wife (Sheryl) and I married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1975. Since then we have been blessed with five daughters and two sons. Two of those daughters have blessed us with seven grandchildren.
I grew up in Utah (Salt Lake City and Orem). I graduated from Orem High School in 1970. From 1971 to 1973, I spent two incredible years serving in the Tulsa Oklahoma Mission. Areas included Lawton (OK), Joplin (MO), Gore & Tahlequah (OK), Independence (KS), and Manhattan (KS). Upon returning from my mission, I spent the next four years at Brigham Young University, graduating in 1977. Late in 1977 we moved to Roseburg, Oregon, after receiving a job offer as a District Executive for the Oregon Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America, in Eugene, Oregon. In 1982 we migrated to Seattle after I was hired as a Passport Specialist with the U.S. Department of State, Passport Office. In 1998, I was elected as president of Local 1998, National Federation of Federal Employees, representing passport employees nationwide. I was re-elected for a second term in 2000. In September 2005 I transferred to the new Colorado Passport Agency located in Aurora, Colorado.
I am often asked what credentials I have for preparing these outlines. While serving on my mission I gained a tremendous love for studying the gospel. I became voracious in my study of the gospel. Since then, I served one year as an early morning Seminary teacher and several years as the High Priest's group instructor. I taught the Gospel Doctrine class in my ward from 1988 until my release in early 2001. I was once again called as Gospel Doctrine teacher in September 2003 and served until our move to Colorado in 2005. I am currently teaching the Gospel Principles course. I do not have any special credentials, I simply love to study and teach the gospel.

Internet Explorer: Select Tools - Select Internet Options - Select the Advanced tab - Scroll down to Printing - Uncheck Print background colors and images
