Lesson 46 Handout (PDF)

Introduction

"The last half of the book of Ether describes the blessings of righteousness and the curses of wickedness. Prophets helped preserve the Jaredites for many years. However, secret combinations eventually led to strife and the overthrow of freedom.
"The prophet Ether told King Coriantumr that he and his household would be spared if they would repent. But Coriantumr and his people refused to repent, and the Jaredite nation was completely destroyed."

Some Personal Thoughts:

Ether 7

A few weeks ago we discussed the decline of Nephite civilization (see Lesson 43). One of symptom of decay was the lack of gratitude and failing to remember the source of their blessings.

Ether 8

READ ETHER 8:13-19. Secret combinations among the Jaredites.

Ether 12

Moroni teaches about faith (v6-22).

READ ETHER 12:23-25.

READ ETHER 12:27.

READ ETHER 12:41.

Ether 13 & 14

READ ETHER 13:1-2, 13-18ETHER14:1-2.

Ether 15

We read in this chapter of the ultimate destruction of the Jaredite nation. Only two survived, Coriantumr and the prophet Ether, whose life was preserved to record this incredible destruction.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM THE JAREDITE RECORD ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF REPENTING BEFORE GETTING TOO DEEPLY INVOLVED IN SIN?

HOW DOES SINNING LIMIT OUR AGENCY?
